Trumpets Sound: Surrender! Accept!
March 18, 2022
Saw the Trumpeter Swans again today!
The swan’s message first appeared for me four days ago. I was randomly leafing through an older journal for examples of pencil sketching and calligraphy to highlight The Art of Journaling. It was early morning as I sat at my desk where I write each day. My journal fell open to a swan sketch I’d drawn in 2014.
Background eddies of “to-dos and worries” swirled in my mind. Where to start the day’s tasks…the new website, articles to write, my upcoming workshop (with concerns of war and climate change never far away). Just then, my daughter-in-law texted. Could my granddaughter (almost 4-years-old) be with me today?
Swan’s message from 2014 spoke to me: enter Sacred Space and Surrender to the Grace of what is. Time and again this day I surrendered and returned to my Sacred Space as I cherished time with my precious grandchild. Later that day a dozen Trumpeter Swans (once near extinction) flew before us across the face of nearby Rose Mountain.
Two days later – eight trumpeting Swans circled low over our heads as we walked our neighbourhood. Remarkably yesterday and again today we saw and heard yet more Trumpeter Swans on our walks. Sighting these graceful beauties in our community is a first for us in four years of living here in Spallumcheen B.C.
An ongoing lovely reminder to accept and surrender to what is rather than follow my mind’s anxious agenda.
