After the Storm

Rereading my journal this past Sunday (as is my Sabbath ritual) I saw how I reacted/responded to three different incidents wherein other people’s words emotionally hit me. You can read the story here “Big Bluster Blows My Way.”

After writing and posting this article as a blog I struggled with: “I should not post this blog. Too revealing…it might cause ‘them’ to feel uncomfortable again.” I wrote and rewrote my blog to avoid harming others. I debated deleting it. Doubt gnawed at my writing and confidence as a writer (for weeks ☹).

I asked for guidance within my journal. Then, an answer came. A wise friend, speaking of her healing used the line, “I am not responsible for other people’s triggers.” It hit home. The key to writing in journals or elsewhere is being honest…

Write your truth.

Next morning, I begin my morning journal writing ritual still feeling uncertain about leaving my “Big Bluster” article on myhealingjournal.ca site. With no idea of my journal writing’s direction – two pages wrote itself.

I was surprised by the flow, surety, and intensity of the words. At times there would be a momentary pause. “Was I finished?” Then, my pen would resume writing. After two pages I put my pen down. I heard my Small Still Voice from within whisper “your Credo.” My Credo?! Whaat? I googled “credo” – my aim/belief.

My Credo infused me and my writing with a deeper sense of clarity, understanding and purpose. How can I write authentically if I censor my words to protect and/or please others? Or if I listen to my inner critic? No wonder I felt hurt by it all.

My Credo Highlights:  (Read full version of “My Credo” for creative inspiration.)

Protect your creativity against your propensity to judge self & appease others.

Your responsibility is to protect, cherish, and express your God given gift (given to all!)

Not doing so diminishes and hurts you, creating a lack (of YOU) in the world.

You are not in service to “them” but to God (of your understanding) and to your unshakeable gift of self expression.

Know your Astounding Beauty, Value and Wisdom (others need to see/hear.)

You must be honest and true to yourself, to your word and to your God.
